The casting calls you have been on so far, how did they go? Hallways and lobby packed with talent, waiting for hours for their names to be called so they could sit and be video-taped for two minutes answering some inane question written by the casting director two minutes before they started? Or was it one of those exclusive casting calls in a plush office suit high above the Sunset Strip, replete with Hors de Oeuvres and Champagne?
One thing is for sure, no two casting calls are alike, and if you're a real actor, you should be like a chameleon who can shift colors and patterns to match any given situation. Serious and well-grounded for those compelling drama casting calls, loose and wise-cracking for the outrageous comedies, and maybe a little deranged and introverted for those psychotic horror masterpieces. Casting calls are you opportunity to show all the different sides of your acting persona.
To make the most of casting calls, just have fun above all. If you spend the whole time worrying and preoccupying yourself with doubts and fears about whether or not your going to get the part, it is going to affect your performance. You cannot perform at your best when you are distracted by insecurity. Look at your casting calls as a chance to meet someone who can help out your career. Whatever the circumstances, concentrate on the task at hand and give a great performance.
