New York Casting is just like New York itself, fast-paced, hectic, unforgiving, cruel and nasty and rude, everything you ever wanted in an experience that may make or break your career. Will you ever be able to filter all the attitude out of New York, as if donning a pair of imaginary earplugs and spraying on an invisible force-shield? No, never, but you can survive, and thrive in New York casting, proving to yourself that you can make it anywhere.
The kinds of opportunities you will encounter in New York casting situations are very much the same as those you may find in La La Land, but with slightly more emphasis on live theatre performance. New York casting involves much more work with plays than other markets, because it is arguably the theatre capitol of the nation.
If you are the type of actor that does not respond well to high-pressure situations, first of all, maybe you should quit acting, because from all appearances, there doesn't seem to be much about acting that is not high pressure, except for when you have become rich and famous after years of struggling and now you are able to kick back and drink Daiquiris on the beach in San Tropez, but since you are still working towards that point, getting used to the high pressure of New York casting will make you a better actor, and that much stronger of a person.
